At Home Learning - Entrepreneurship and Business Planning

ASD-N ICE Centre | S2 2020
Welcome to the At Home Learning page for Entrepreneurship and Business Planning. 

We will continue to use Microsoft Teams as the primary source for all course materials, and course work.

Content and instructions will be posted every Monday and Wednesday.

For this week please focus on your overall well being and developing a plan for At Home Learning that works for you and your family. April 6th 2020

This week please focus on your overall well being and developing a plan for At Home Learning that works for you and your family. It is important to have an open discussion and find a solution that works for everyone.
  1. Please download the Microsoft Teams App on your phone if you do not have access on a computer.
  2. Please download the Microsoft Word App on your phone if you do not have access on a computer.
  3. Please let me know ASAP if you do not have access to Microsoft teams on your phone or a computer.

  5. Please complete the Welcome Back journal posted on Microsoft Teams.
  6. Please update and complete the Company Pitch Round 1 assignment we were working on before the closure. 
  7. Please complete the Covid-19 Impact on Business assignment posted on Microsoft Teams.

April 14th 2020

This week we will focus on market research, it is very important to look at both primary and secondary research when validating your idea. Once I have received your market research survey questions, I will provide instructions for sharing them with the public.
  1. ​​Watch the video posted in the Videos folder in our class files titled: Video - April 14th 2020. 
  2. Please complete the Progress Update journal posted on Microsoft Teams.
  3. Please read the Market Research Presentation in class files titled Lesson - Market Research
  4. Please complete the Market Research Survey assignment.
  5. Please turn in your Market Research Survey before sending it out to the public. I will review your questions and provide feedback.

April 20th 2020

This week we will continue to focus on market research, more specifically creating a market research survey.
  1. Please complete the SMART Goals journal for this week.
  2. Please read the Market Research Presentation in class files titled Lesson - Market Research Survey
  3. Please be sure to read the two readings in the lesson. (The links are in the PDF)
  4. Create your survey using Microsoft Forms.
  5. Send your survey to Rob for review.
  6. Once approved, share your survey with the public. Rob will also post on his social media.
  7. Once you have 40+ results, you can complete the Survey Results assignment.

April 27th 2020

This week we will begin to dive into the lean business plan. This should take about 2 weeks to fully complete. There will be some mini lessons on specific topics available throughout the week. For now get started on adding some information under each category. 
  1. Please complete the Check In journal for this week.
  2. Please ensure the link to your online survey is shared with Rob so he can share it with others, the goal is 40 responses.
  3. ​Please complete the Lean Business Plan assignment.

May 4th 2020

This week we will continue to focus on the Lean Business plan. It's important to be as specific as possible and provide as much detail as possible under each category. The Lean Business plan is a working document that would be very valuable to use should you need a full business plan in the future. 
  1. There is no journal for this week.
  2. If you have not, already, please ensure the link to your online survey is shared with Rob so he can share it with others.
  3. Once you have 40+ results, you can complete the Survey Results assignment.
  4. ​Please continue working on the Lean Business Plan assignment.
  5. Please review the Lesson - Logo Design in our class files.
  6. Please complete the Logo Design assignment.
  7. On Wednesday this week there will be a Lesson and Assignment posted on creating a website. Stay posted.

May 11th 2020

This week is the final week to complete the Lean Business plan. It's also the beginning of building your company website. Included in the class files are instructions for building your company website. This should include the logo you designed last week. Having a company website is essential and even more so during these unique times. 

Please note we will hold a class video conference this week. Please complete the Check In Journal ASAP to confirm your availability!

  1. Please complete the Check In journal.
  2. Please continue working on the Lean Business Plan assignment.
  3. Please review the Lesson - Website Design in our class files.
  4. Please build your website. All the information you need is in the Lesson.

May 19th 2020

Thanks to everyone who joined our Virtual Class last week, it was great to see you virtually!
This week is a chance to catch up and complete all outstanding assignments. ​Next week we will begin preparing for your final Showcase Project. The following assignments should be completed by the end of this week:

May 25th 2020

There are 3 weeks remaining in this school year! This week you will begin preparing and brainstorming your Showcase Project. If you still have outstanding assignments please submit them as soon as possible. In order to receive a Credit in this course you must have submitted 85% of all assignments and journals. 
  1. Review the Showcase Project lesson in our class files.
  2. Brainstorm ideas about how to may showcase your work.
  3. Choose a format for showcasing your project.
  4. Email Rob to let him know how you plan to showcase your project.
  5. Bring preparing your showcase project, be sure to include all sections outlined in the lesson provided in class files.

June 1st 2020

There are 2 weeks remaining in this school year and this is the final week for your Showcase project. At this point you should have developed an idea of how you will best showcase your work. Please spend this week preparing your showcase project.

Please ensure you carefully read the Showcase Project lesson in our class files and include all elements in your final project.

June 8th 2020

This week is the final week for Home Learning. Thanks to all of you who have submitted your showcase project, it is great to see the work you have completed! This week will serve as an opportunity to complete any missing work and reflect on your year.
  1. ​Please complete any outstanding assignments or journals 
  2. Please complete the Final Reflection Paper assignment.
  3. Your Final Reflection should be a minimum of 1000 words, please review the assignment document for some suggested topics to be covered. Please ensure the paper is in essay format and covers some or all of the suggested topics.
