The ASDN ICE Centre is set to open its doors
to the students of ASDN in September 2019.
The ASDN ICE Centre is an Education Project created by the Anglophone North School District and NBCC Miramichi. The focus of the ASDN ICE Centre is to create a variety of career focused courses for High School students. We will work with local businesses and organisations to identify the labour market needs and align our courses accordingly.
We are creating Dual Credit courses to offer High School students the opportunity to earn Post-Secondary Education credits while enrolled in High School. This helps reduce the financial need of students upon graduation and provides students with exposure to potential career pathways before graduating from High School.
Our first course will begin in September 2019 and will focus on Entrepreneurship and Business Planning. This course is open to Grade 11 & 12 students from High Schools in ASDN. It will be held at NBCC Miramichi and is structured as a two hour block. Students will earn 2.0 credits from their respective High School while also earning 3.0 NBCC credits in Entrepreneurship and Business Planning.
The growth plan for the ASDN ICE Centre is to expand by offering courses in additional career pathways. Specifically we would like to offer students the opportunity to enrol in Dual Credit Courses in Skilled Trades, Health Services and Cyber Security.
